  • How much does it cost to study CPA in Uganda?
    The cost to study CPA in Uganda ranges between UGX 2,500,000 to UGX 5,000,000 for the entire course. However, one should take note that the cost of studying CPA in Uganda varies depending on the institution offering the course. The figures provided here are taken on an average basis. It's important to note that this cost may not include additional expenses such as textbooks, examination fees, and living expenses. It's advisable to research various institutions offering the course to compare the costs and choose the one that best fits your budget.   • What is CPA Uganda?
    The Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, CPA(U) is a professional qualification for all individuals that want to practice accounting in Uganda. To become a Certified Public Accountant, one must pass all the eighteen (18) courses (papers) that make up this 4-level qualification. ​ The graduates of this programme (CPAs) act as Financial Advisors, Tax Consultants, Auditors, Business Consultants, Public Accountants and can take-up any position related to Finance at a company.   • When are the CPA Uganda exams done?
    Examinations for the year 2023 shall be held thrice i.e. May, August and November. The table below shows the planned examination diets.
  • Who qualifies for CPA?
    A holder of a degree from a recognised University qualifies for CPA. If you intend to enroll for CPA(U), the minimum entry requirements are; Degree from a recognized University, or Advanced Level Certificate with at least two principle passes in addition to 5 credits at O’ Level including English Language and Mathematics.   • How long is a CPA Course in Uganda?
    On average, the CPA Course in Uganda takes 2 years and 6 months to complete. However, you should take note that the duration and completion of a CPA Course in Uganda depends on a number of factors including, availability of exemptions when you enrolled and how many papers you intend to sit per examination diet. From experience, most of the students that have enrolled for a CPA Course in Uganda at Harvest Training and Consultancy (U) Ltd have finished and graduated within a period of two and a half years (2 years and 6 months). The rules set by ICPAU on the other hand require a student to complete a CPA Course in Uganda within a period of 10 years (as a maximum) from the date of registration.   • Is CTA a Certified Public Accountant?
    No, CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) is not the same as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). While both qualifications involve working with financial information, a Chartered Tax Advisor is a specialist in tax law and planning, while a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a more general qualification covering a range of accounting and finance topics. However, many Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) go on to complete the CTA qualification to specialize in taxation.
  • What is the difference between a CPA and a CTA?
    A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is a professional accounting designation recognized worldwide. CPAs provide accounting, tax, and financial advisory services to individuals, businesses, and organizations. They are licensed by the state they work in and must meet specific education and experience requirements to earn the designation. On the other hand, a CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) specializes in taxation and provides tax planning and advisory services to individuals, businesses, and organizations. CTAs must also meet specific education and experience requirements to earn the designation, but they are not licensed by the state. In summary, while both designations require specialized knowledge and skills, CPAs focus on a broader range of accounting and financial services, while CTAs specialize in taxation.
  • What is CTA Qualification?
    CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) Qualification is a prestigious professional qualification that provides tax professionals with a broad range of knowledge and skills needed to excel in the tax industry. The qualification is recognized globally and is awarded by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in Uganda. It is designed for tax professionals who wish to enhance their understanding of complex tax regulations and apply this knowledge in their day-to-day work. The CTA Qualification is highly respected by employers and is often considered a prerequisite for senior tax positions in various industries.
