About the Organization
CoRSU was established in 2009 as a private, non-profit, non-governmental organization in Uganda. CoRSU’s core mandate is to mitigate the debilitating effects of disabling physical conditions, by ensuring accessibility and availability of quality, preventative, curative, rehabilitative services for people with disability in Uganda and neighboring countries.
CoRSU provides subsidized treatments (surgery and rehabilitation) for vulnerable patients and this is carried out through social assessment tools.
Job Description
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda (CORSU) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, non-governmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission).
CORSU provides Orthopedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults with disability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a high standard of care (diagnosis & management especially surgery) to patients with Orthopedic and all musculoskeletal conditions presenting to the hospital.
They will assist the Head of Orthopedics in orthopedic service delivery ranging from Trauma, Upper and Limb surgery to Hip and Knee, Foot and Ankle, Pediatric Orthopedics and Limb Reconstruction.
The Job holder is expected to conduct periodical clinical work including pre-assessment clinics, patient follow up and ward rounds.
They Orthopedic Surgeons will work with the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team in limb reconstruc- tion.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Master of Medicine (MMED) in Orthopedics are essential with background of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or its equivalent.
A Pediatric Orthopedic fellowship is an added advantage.
Registered with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC) with a valid annal practicing licence.
Registered with the Orthopedic Society of Uganda
Work Experience, knowledge & skills. o 3 years' experience working as an Orthopedic Surgeon
Excellent patient management skills o Excellent surgical skills and stamina
Good teaching skills
Demonstrate clinical competency and proficiency in orthopedic surgery.
