The Mountains of the Moon University, is a public university in Uganda. Founded as a private, non-profit institution, the university became a public institution following an executive directive in January 2018. It is named after the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.

To teach, supervise, promote research studies, disseminate research findings and participate in Community Service.

Duties and Responsibilities

Student Supervision and Guidance:


Thesis and Dissertation Supervision: Supervise and guide graduate students in their thesis or dissertation research, offering expertise in research design, methodology, data analysis, and academic writing.

Research Mentorship: Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research activities, helping them develop their research skills and encouraging participation in academic conferences and publications.

Advising: Serve as an academic advisor to students, providing support in course selection, research opportunities, and career planning within the field of educational psychology.


Service to the Institution:

  • Committee Participation: Serve on departmental, faculty, or university committees, contributing to curriculum development, academic policies, student recruitment, and other aspects of university governance.

  • Program Development: Assist in the development and review of academic programs in educational psychology, ensuring they meet accreditation standards and reflect current trends in the field.

  • Peer Review: Participate in peer review processes for academic publications, research proposals, and institutional evaluations.

Community and Professional Engagement:

  • Outreach: Engage with the broader educational and psychological communities, providing expertise to schools, educational agencies, or professional organizations.

  • Continuing Education: Offer workshops, seminars, or continuing education courses for educators, psychologists, and other professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in educational psychology.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other universities, research institutions, and professional organizations to advance the field of educational psychology.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • Should have a PhD in Religious Studies or Gender Studies, Masters of Religious Studies or Gender Studies and Bachelor of Arts Degree (Religious Studies or Gender Studies).


Experience and Competences

  • Should have at least seven (7) years of good track record of relevant teaching, research and publication experience at the level of a Higher Education Institution.

  • Should have at least five (5) intemationally recognized peer reviewed publications field of specialization within the last five (5) years of which three (3) as first author



  • Should have supervised five (5) graduate students to completion, one of which at the PhD level.

  • Being a registered professional is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy and adequate communication skills are a MUST.

  • Demonstrated evidence of academic leadership in an institution of higher learning is essential.

  • Written and won at least 1 competitive fundable research grants with a minimum of USD 50.000 is an added advantage.
