Job Description
Accurately count and handle cash transactions. Balance the cash register drawer at the beginning and end of each shift. Ensure there is adequate change in the cash register.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service:
Greet customers warmly and provide assistance as needed.
Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints courteously and professionally.
Transaction Processing:
Operate cash registers and other point-of-sale (POS) systems efficiently.
Process various forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and gift certificates.
Handle returns, refunds, and exchanges according to company policies.
Cash Handling:
Accurately count and handle cash transactions.
Balance the cash register drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
Ensure there is adequate change in the cash register.
Sales Assistance:
Assist customers with product selection and answer questions about merchandise.
Promote sales, special offers, and loyalty programs.
Receipt Issuance:
Provide customers with accurate receipts for their purchases.
Ensure all items are correctly scanned and priced.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and report discrepancies in cash drawer or inventory.
Assist in stocking shelves and organizing products as needed.
Conduct regular inventory checks and report shortages or overages.
Maintaining Cleanliness:
Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and free of clutter.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the store’s public areas.
Security and Loss Prevention:
Be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the management.
Follow security procedures to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of transactions and prepare daily reports.
Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries as needed.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other store staff to ensure smooth operations.
Assist in other areas of the store as needed, including restocking and merchandising.
Compliance:
Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Adhere to legal requirements, including age restrictions on certain products.
Training and Development:
Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Stay updated on new products, services, and store promotions.
Emergency Handling:
Respond appropriately to emergencies, such as power outages or system failures.
Follow store protocols for handling emergencies and ensuring customer safety.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Experience using modern register operations and POS equipment
Experience in the use of credit card/debit card terminals
Very positive and friendly attitude; helpful approach in all customer experiences
Strong language and communication skills
Basic math skills
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Self-motivated and trustworthy
