Job Description
Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is a private development company based in Bethesda, Maryland, US with additional corporate offices in London and Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom. We tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. We work with a wide range of clients, including national and local governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, private corporations, and philanthropies.
About WFS Project:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year activity (202302028) implemented by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global LLC) as a lead partner with funding from USAID Feed the Future in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The Activity aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security in the Kyoga Basin in northeastern Uganda, specifically three watersheds — Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere, by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Project Driver supports the project teams with driving and maintenance of assigned project vehicles, coordinating transportation schedules and generally moving to the frontline locations of work.
The position requires completing information both on paper and computer and will report to the Operations Manager.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
A minimum qualification of UCE certificate is required with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in driving and logistics preferably on a USAID project or other donor-funded projects in Uganda.
Experience driving within different regions across Uganda and especially the region of application is required.
Valid public driver’s license from class B and above with a clean driving record.
Willingness to travel frequently within the country.
Experienced in driving in difficult terrains.
Able to maintain good working relationships with team members while retaining high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
Good sense of geography. locations. and directions in the region of application.
Capable of communicating verbally in fluent English.
