Job Description

The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing support to the finance manager with donor reporting requirements, following up on payments, preparing field funds transfers to field offices and processing payments. The Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring internal controls are always in place and being followed, the field office has adequate cash flows for smooth running of its’ operations. and ensure adherence to the GOAL finance manual.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Timely updating of INSPIRE monthly cashbooks for monthly reporting.

  • Maintain safe custody of the organization cash kept at the field office.

  • Timely processing of cash payments to staff and suppliers based on approved payments requisitions

  • Monitoring outstanding floats and ensuring they are cleared as soon as activities are completed.

  • Provide support to the Finance Manager in developing accurate and realistic project and annual budgets

  • Providing support to programme manager in reviewing monthly Budget Monitoring Tools (BMT) as well as updating forecasts.

  • Provide timely, accurate, weekly and monthly financial reports to Kampala Finance Team.

  • Liaising with Finance Manager and Finance in Kampala on finance related matters.

  • Liaise with banks on any financial related matters.

  • Support the organization in ongoing risk management at the field level and to support the fulfilment of the GOAL Uganda finance plan objectives

  • Ensure that monthly fund request is sent to Kampala by the end of the month for the coming period.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • A university degree in BBA–Accounting, BA Finance/Accounting from a recognized institution.

  • ACCA/CPA at least Level 2

  • Minimum 2 years’ INGO experience in a similar role.


Desirable criteria:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word and Excel)

  • Good analytical skills

  • Good team player, flexible and capable of working with a multinational country team.
