About the Organization
The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is a government agency that was established by an Act of Parliament - UCDA Act, 1991 - which was amended in 1994, Cap. 325, and repealed and replaced by the National Coffee Act No. 17 of 2021.
The Authority is governed by a Board of Directors which oversees the conduct of business and supervision of the UCDA management. The UCDA management is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Authority.
Job Description
Provide support in all laboratory activities as need arises and ensure that the laboratory is in order.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare laboratory equipment for grading, cupping, sensory tasting and analysis;
Roasting and grinding of coffees as per set standards;
Keep proper custody of equipment, chemicals and reagents in line with the Standard Operating Procedures;
Carry out analysis of coffee samples, soil samples and other coffee-related products
Prepare requisitions for laboratory materials, chemicals and equipment in line with established guidelines;
Ensure that the laboratory is safe and everything therein;
Carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
The ideal candidate must have;
Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Science Management or related field from a recognized university;
Certificate in Basic Quality Control or coffee roasting will be an added advantage.
Three (3) years working experience in working experience in a food related laboratory / government lab, or relevant field.
