Duties and Responsibilities
1. Generate all outgoing requests and process Information to Uganda’s Treaty Partners.
a) Research about information to be established for completeness and foreseeable relevance in line with the EOI manual
b) Organize information requests in line with the different standards
c) Prepare and submit the process of ongoing requests and forward them to the supervisor for review
d) Ensure acknowledgement of receipt of information, periodic reminders, and follow-up with Competent Authority offices in various jurisdictions.
2. Execute all assigned activities geared towards enhancing Uganda’s Strategic Partnerships.
a) Research Peer Reviews and emerging trends in the Exchange of Information.
b) Participate in inter-agency collaborations in mutual Evaluation Reports.
c) Keep a database for new developments that are relevant to Uganda’s legislative and policy environments.
3. Generate Tax Residence Certificates
a) Prepare and submit draft Tax Residence Certificates.
b) Analyse all relevant information on the issuance of Tax Residence Certificates
c) Carry out the verification of the applicant’s compliance status with the relevant Compliance offices
4. Attend to all incoming requests for Information and Intelligence from treaty partners
a) Receive all incoming requests for Information and Intelligence from treaty partners.
b) Study all requests and ensure appropriate responses are provided within the standard timeline.
c) Research all incoming requests to ensure that foreseeable relevance and related criteria are also met
d) Prepare reports and submit the responses to the supervisor for review.
5. Participate in assigned internal and external stakeholder Exchange of Information engagements
a) Prepare presentations to be used in the Exchange of Information engagements.
b) Process Memos associated with all stakeholder engagements.
c) Draft reports from the different stakeholder engagements.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Essential Requirements
a) An Honor’s Bachelor’s degree or its equivalency in either: Law, Economics, International Policy and Relations and related disciplines from a recognized academic institution
b) At least two (02) years’ experience in any of the following; Research, International Treaties and International Policies obtained in a reputable organization.
c) An impeccable record of integrity.
Desirable Requirements
a) Training in the Research,
b) Training in Economic Policy and
c) Training in international Taxation
Knowledge
a) Knowledge of the Tax laws, Non-Double Taxation Agreements and related Multi-lateral Instruments
