Job Description
Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) is a private development company based in Bethesda, Maryland, US with additional corporate offices in London and Hemel Hempstead in the United Kingdom. We tackle fundamental social and economic development problems caused by inefficient markets, ineffective governance, and instability. We work with a wide range of clients, including national and local governments, bilateral and multilateral donors, private corporations, and philanthropies.
About WFS Project:
The USAID Feed the Future Uganda Water and Food Systems (WFS) Activity is a five-year activity (202302028) implemented by Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI Global LLC) as a lead partner with funding from USAID Feed the Future in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Stantec, Market Share Associates, and the International Water Management Institute. The Activity aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security in the Kyoga Basin in northeastern Uganda, specifically three watersheds — Lokok, Awoja, and Lokere, by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will provide a direct support to the Operations team in ensuring the to-day office management and operations with high level of efficiency.
S/he will collaborate and seek technical guidance from the Director of Finance and Operations, to ensure the project’s needs are considered throughout the execution of the operations role.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management procurement, supply chain management or any related field.
Minimum of 9 years relevant experience in operations management with a good blend of procurement, logistics, administration, Security, or related area with prior experience in US/ project operations management is desirable.
Professional proficiency in English required, and proficiency in local languages is preferred.
Good working knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
A customer service-oriented individual with ability to deal with all service providers. Must have a valid Uganda driver’s license.
