Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Patient Access Associate receives, processes, and registers patients entering the hospital for most outpatient and inpatient services.

  • Requests and accurately records required patient demographic, physician and insurance related information.

  • Secures pre-registration patient data for Diagnostic Imaging Services as well as all direct admissions to the hospital.

  • Completes preliminary registration and admission related paperwork.

  • Coordinates and assigns room and bed accommodations. Provides clerical support to the department as needed, and performs other job-related tasks as directed.

Qualification, Experiences and Competencies

  • High School diploma required; Associates degree preferred or at least two years equivalent experience in a health care environment.

  • Knowledge of third party payers preferred.

  • Excellent typing skills and ability to operate standard office equipment necessary.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and be proficient in the English language. Knowledge of medical terminology, word processing, statistical tools such as Lotus 1-2-3 and other computer applications preferred.
