The Mountains of the Moon University, is a public university in Uganda. Founded as a private, non-profit institution, the university became a public institution following an executive directive in January 2018. It is named after the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon.
Job Description
To teach, supervise and promote research studies, disseminate research findings, mentor academic staff and participate in Community Service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
Course Design: Develop and update course syllabi, materials, and assessments for undergraduate and graduate courses in educational psychology, ensuring alignment with current research and best practices in the field.
Lecturing: Deliver lectures, lead seminars, and conduct workshops on topics related to educational psychology, such as learning theories, cognitive development, and psychological assessment in educational settings.
Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, projects, and class participation, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning.
Mentorship: Advise and mentor students, particularly those pursuing research or professional careers in psychology and education. Provide guidance on academic progress, research projects, and career planning.
Research and Scholarship:
Research: Conduct original research in the field of educational psychology, contributing to the development of new knowledge and theories in areas such as learning processes, educational interventions, and psychological assessment in education.
Publications: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed academic journals, books, or conference proceedings. Contribute to the academic literature in educational psychology and related fields.
Grant Writing: Seek and secure research funding through grant proposals to support ongoing and future research projects. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research initiatives.
Presentations: Present research at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops, sharing findings with the broader academic and professional community.
Qualification, Experiences and Competencies
Should have a PhD in Education (Curriculum Development), Masters in Education and Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Experience and Competences
Should have at least Ten (10) years of good track record of relevant teaching, research, and publication experience at the level of a Higher Education Institution.
At least five internationally recognized peer reviewed publications in the field of specialization within the last five (5) years of which three (3) as first author
Should have supervised seven (7) graduate students to completion, two of which must be at PhD level.
Demonstrated computer literacy and adequate communication skills are a e a MUST.
Demonstrated evidence of academic leadership in an institution of higher learning is essential.
Written and won at least 1 competitive fundable research grants with a minimum of USD 100,000 is an added advantage.
Being a registered professional is an added advantage.
